CEO of Royal Boon Edam International B.V.

Royal Boon Edam International B.V. is a global leader in premium entry solutions that include revolving doors, security doors, access control barriers and performance-based services. Founded in 1873 and headquartered in the Netherlands, family-owned Boon Edam operates worldwide with subsidiaries and distributors in over 40 countries and manufacturing locations in the Netherlands, USA and China. The company is recognized for high-quality, secure, and sustainable solutions that shape people flows in corporate headquarters, airports, high-profile public buildings and data centers.

Boon Edam has built a leading position in the global market for premium revolving doors and security solutions. They operate in a market with rising customer expectations on digital and sustainable innovation and competition from several strong global competitors. Their market also offers significant growth opportunities due to a growing safety concern, big tech companies demanding a consistent global offering for their offices, datacenters and warehouses, and the rapid development of emerging markets. Boon Edam wanted to develop a growth strategy that is an effective response to these challenges and opportunities to secure its long-term continuity and market leadership. Additional requirements for the growth strategy were the commitment of Boon Edam’s global leadership team and a focus on execution.

RevelX guided Boon Edam through a structured and highly participative strategy process. Together with the executive leadership team, functional directors and the MDs of local subsidiaries, we conducted in-depth analysis of market trends, competition, and Boon Edam’s current positioning. We interviewed international customers to understand future customer needs. Next, we have supported the development of a group ambition and strategic direction, facilitated strategy workshops at all 15 subsidiaries and consolidated their bottom-up inputs into the overall Boon Edam strategy. This strategy included four strategic transitions that will deliver a fundamental shift in Boon Edam’s business model and that will make sure that the organization is Fit for the Future. In the last phase, the group and local strategies were translated into action plans, and we have set up the program management on the execution.

The project delivered a FutureFit 2030 strategy for Boon Edam that includes:

  • A well-defined and SMART growth ambition with clear priorities.
  • A balanced set of growth engines with growth targets on products, services, and geographies.
  • A transformation program focused on commercial acceleration, portfolio development, service excellence, and operational effectiveness.
  • Fifteen local growth strategies, each summarized on 1 A4 with our Growth Strategy Canvas.
  • A structured approach for the execution of the strategy.

Furthermore, the project has contributed to developing strategic awareness, stimulating cross functional thinking and creating ownership for the execution across the Boon Edam organization.
